Your favourite brand eBook reader - Top Question List (10)

This is the personal choice of you. You might prefer a eBook reader only by its brand name. There are large groups of enthusiasts of the Apple’s iPad, the Amazon’s Kindle, the Sony Readers or the Barnes and Noble’s Nook.
The brand of the provider of ebooks may be a reason for buying a specific ebook reader. As Barnes and Noble, Kobo and Amazon have their own devices you might want a direct connection with the provider. Nowadays you can even buy ebooks from Sony.

We would advice to go deeper, as several manufactures worked together to develop an eBook reader and sell the same device under their own name. There are companies, which develop eBook readers under a blank name (e.g. Foxconn), so other parties can put their brand name on the reader (e.g. Bebook, Hanvon, Pocketbook). Same product, different name and.. different price! At the site of Amazaon you can buy most current ebook readers and tablet (even the iPad).

Sony Reader PRS-650 Touch Edition

We discovered a video of the Sony Reader Touch-edition PRS 650. This is the follow-up to the 600-version, the one that opened the ebook market. The Touch edition is seen as the most important Sony Reader, next to the Pocket edition and the Daily edition, because of it's size and price. Sizewize it is comfortable to carry around (6 inch) and pricewize not as expensive as the larger ones. Interesting to see, that the price is lower than the introduction price of the previous Touch. Might this be a trend in the ebook reader world? Will it be a Kindle-killer? Pricewise? No. The Kindle is cheaper, but does not support ePub. So, in that perspective, Yes.

The Sony Reader Touch Edition PRS-650 (can't Sony make the names of their devices a little shorter?) has quit some new features. Check out the video and see what the standard of Sony is. Click here.
Comparable are the features for downloading ebooks and using the ususal software applications. Interesting, in Europe you can get them in more colors than in other parts of the world. Why is that?
